Dr. Ann K. Miyamura
Dr. Miyamura was born and raised in Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii. After graduating from Hilo High School, she continued her education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and was a member of a number of honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa.
Dr. Miyamura earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1996, after which she moved to Sacramento. She has practiced in offices in Sacramento, Stockton, Davis, and Vacaville, as well as performing quality management reviews for a number of vision plans. |
Dr. Miyamura joined the practice of Dr. Teresa Gerard in 1998 and feels fortunate to serve the community for the last 25 years. She prefers being in private practice over the HMO or retail settings because it allows for more personal care and individual attention.
Dr. Miyamura's interests are primarily food and music. She is an avid baker, baking (literally) over a thousand cookies each Christmas season, and prefers a delicate crisp cookie, but also enjoys some chewy ones. For a few years, she was also baking loaves of homemade artisan style bread, but had to stop because of the carbs! Dr. Miyamura also plays the flute (and a little piano), and was very active in her High School and College Bands. She is a former member of the Sacramento Community Concert Band.
